Valine encoded by the codons GUU, GUC, GUA, and GUG is an α-amino acid that is used in the biosynthesis of proteins. It is essential in humans, meaning the body cannot synthesize it and thus it must be obtained from the diet. It is possible to be deficient in the amino acid, despite the abundance of natural sources available. Individuals on low-fat diets and those who do a great deal of strength training may need supplements, as they may not be getting enough of it in their food, or may be outstripping its ability to repair muscle tissue. A lack of it in the human body can cause nerve damage by degrading the nerves' myelin coverings, and this can lead to neurological disorders.
The valine can be divided into three categories: L-Valine, D-Valine, and DL-Valine.There are usually three ways to manufacture the valine: extraction method, chemical synthesis, fermentation method.

Global valine market was valued at 413 Million US$ in 2018 and is projected to reach 678 Million US$ by 2024, at a CAGR of 8.62% during the forecast period.

Valine is a proteinogenic amino acid widely used as nutritional supplements in food and beverage industries. As a nutritional supplement, Valine can be used in a wide variety of industries including: food production, beverage, pharmaceutical, agriculture/animal feed, and various other industries.
Usually, there are usually three ways to manufacture the valine: extraction method, chemical synthesis, fermentation method.
For extraction method: we use Ion exchange method to get the L-Valine from the protein hydrolysate. But it has low separation efficiency, so it is used sparingly.
For Chemical synthesis: we use isobutyl aldehyde as raw materials, isobutyl aldehyde reacts with ammonia and hydrocyanic acid, hydrolysis what we get, and we can finally get DL-Valine. Further we can get L-Valine from DL-Valine. This process is complex and low efficiency.
For fermentation method: we use micrococcus glutamicus, brevibacterium ammoniagenes, aerobacter aerogenes as seed, after seed culture, fermentation, centrifugation & filtration, crude purification and refined purification, we can get L-Valine.

Key players in global valine market include: Ajinomoto Group, Kyowa Hakko, CJ, Evonik, Bafeng Pharmaceutical, Fufeng Group, Jiahe Biotech, Jinghai Amino Acid, Jirong Pharmaceutical, Amresco, Luzhou Group, B-Win Chemical, Meihua Group, Shixing Amino Acid Wellman Bioscience etc.
