A mattress is a large, rectangular pad for supporting the reclining body, designed to be used as a bed or on a bed frame, as part of a bed. Mattresses may consist of a quilted or similarly fastened case, usually of heavy cloth, that contains materials such as hair, straw, cotton, foam rubber, or a framework of metal springs. According to different materials, there are five types of mattresses commonly in the market: sponge mattresses, brown mattresses, spring mattresses, latex mattresses, memory foam mattresses.

Spring mattresses are the most commonly used mattresses. They generally consist of three parts: fabric, padding and spring support layer. Among them, the spring support layer plays a decisive role. A high-quality mattress is a combination of different characteristics of springs and fillings to achieve a balance of soft body feel and solid support. Mattress fabrics are mainly made of pure cotton. Better quality fabrics can reduce the probability of breeding bacteria and mites on mattresses. Fillers are generally brown pads, sponges, knitted cotton, etc. The role of the brown pad is to increase the support and hardness of the mattress, making the mattress more durable. The role of sponge and knitted cotton is to increase the softness and comfort of the mattress. Among them, the sponge has a poor breathability and the knitted cotton has a better breathability. The spring support layer plays the most important supporting role.
